With a remarkable 25-year trajectory in higher education leadership, Dr. Alexander (Alex) R. Miller stands as an accomplished educator, leader, and coach, having embarked on his coaching practice in 2020. His personal health transformation served as the catalyst for establishing AMiller Advisory LLC, a platform dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations through leadership, lifestyle, wellness, nutrition, and fitness coaching. Dr. Miller’s credentials include valuable NASM certifications as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach, in addition to completing a prestigious executive leadership development program at Harvard University. He adeptly navigates the wellness journey, offering insights based on his deep understanding of its challenges and rewards. His significant achievements include successful publications, developing influential wellness strategies, earning national acclaim, and spearheading the creation of two university wellness centers. Dr. Miller’s core belief is in the power of individuals to actively shape their own well-being.
In addition to his Bachelor of Arts degree from Olivet College, Dr. Miller holds a Master of Arts in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University and a Doctor of Education in Adult and Higher Education Administration from Northern Illinois University. Alex has received awards and honors, presented nationally, and is active in several professional, social, civic, and service organizations. Miller has served in higher education leadership positions at Washington and Lee University, Denison University, Harvard University, University of Chicago, DePaul University, Tulane University, Syracuse University, and Michigan State University.
Alex was born and raised on the westside of Chicago, and is proud of his roots, but one of Alex’s favorite places is New Orleans, Louisiana, which he affectionately refers to as his second home. His fondness for the city stems from his critical role in Tulane University’s rebuilding and reopening efforts after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
